Government Compliance
Today it's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), tomorrow who knows what? Different States and other local governments come up with new tax regulations seemingly all too often. And now, new environmental regulations are on the horizon. Many government mandates require making changes to existing business application systems. And to do that requires intimate knowledge of:
- What applications are impacted - specifically where and what needs to change
- What technical skills are needed to make the change, and
- How to test and implement that change.
All of which, with the human expert base dwindling, becomes a very lengthy, and costly, undertaking.
What's now needed is an automated system that enables organizations to fulfill those requirements quickly and accurately. An automated system like KeySys. Not only does KeySys immediately fulfill SOX dictum 1 (up-to-date fully documented application systems), but with our search and analyzer engines, KeySys enables your staff (or ours) to quickly determine and see:
- All points of impact - from the applications involved to programs, datastores (databases, files, etc.), all the way to the individual data elements.
- What different technologies are involved.
- What Jobs, Procs, transactions, etc., to use for testing.
All of this and more. Making implementation of government regulations a planned, easily accomplished process. Instead of a mad scramble to meet pre-determined deadlines to avoid penalties.
Litigation
Law suits, recalls, and health threatening foods/drugs/products are becoming all too common - and therefore a bigger cost of doing business.
All of which require a company to go through a "Fault Identification" process. For which heavy reliance is placed on I.T. to either figure out where the fault occurred and/or obtain supporting data to prove no fault. As in the use of a bad raw material provided by another company. All of which requires an in-depth knowledge of: the application system(s) involved that automate the associated process, the datastores (files, databases, etc.) which capture the data in question, and the technical skills needed to get at the data.
Easily accomplished if the company has an extremely knowledgeable Mainframe-experienced staff which can be re-assigned at a moments notice to attack the problem. If that's not a reality (and even if it was), a more practical solution is the use of an automated system like KeySys, which enables even non-Mainframe technicians to quickly and accurately obtain the needed information.
Or the best of all worlds - a combination of the both. For even the most capable staff cannot keep thousands of programs, datastores and millions of data elements in their memory banks. They too will have to perform many manual interrogations of the systems - which is very time consuming. And in health threatening situations, time is of the essence.
Information Investigation
An emerging facet of compliance and litigation involves the need to investigate internal data assets for specific information of interest. Performed manually, this can be an extremely time-consuming activity. And often becomes the highest priority in order to avoid penalties or additional legal fees, taking key personnel away from other high priority business activities.
